Meet One of Our Most Transformative Skin Treatments
Microneedling has become one of the most sought-after clinical treatments in skincare - and for good reason. It’s a minimally invasive procedure that triggers the skin’s natural ability to repair, regenerate, and renew itself.
At Skin Ritual Newmarket, we use the SkinPen®, a medical-grade microneedling device that’s TGA-approved and clinically proven for both safety and results. Here’s how microneedling works, what it does, and what to expect from your treatment and recovery.
What Is Microneedling and What Does It Do?
Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, involves using fine, sterile surgical-grade needles to create thousands of controlled micro-injuries in the skin. These tiny punctures stimulate the body’s wound-healing response, increasing the production of collagen and elastin - two key proteins that keep skin smooth, firm, and youthful.
The result: brighter, stronger, more resilient skin with refined texture and tone.
What does Microneedling treat?
Microneedling effectively treats:
Acne scarring and uneven texture
Pigmentation and melasma
Fine lines and wrinkles
Large or visible pores
Overall skin dullness or laxity
This is why microneedling has become a cornerstone treatment for those wanting natural, long-term skin rejuvenation without heat, downtime, or risk of pigment change.

How Microneedling Is Done
Your treatment journey starts with a comprehensive consultation to assess your skin goals and ensure microneedling is the right treatment for you. On the day of your session, your skin is cleansed thoroughly and an optional numbing cream is applied to ensure comfort.
Once the skin is prepared, your Skin Ritual therapist uses the SkinPen® to glide across the treatment area in precise, overlapping passes. The pen’s disposable needle cartridge creates consistent microchannels at a depth customised for your skin - typically 0.25–1.5mm.
After treatment, cyrotherapy is used to calm the skin and support healing. The entire procedure takes around 45–60 minutes, depending on the area treated.
What to Expect from Your Results
Microneedling results build progressively as new collagen forms. Immediately after your session, the skin may appear flushed - similar to a mild sunburn - but this typically subsides within 24–48 hours.
Microneedling Before and After
Early on, after the first and second treatments, clients notice:
Smoother texture
Slight plumping of the skin
After a series of treatments (usually 4-6), results become more dramatic - visibly refined pores, faded scarring, softened lines and plumper, more youthful skin.
Microneedling Recovery: Day by Day
Healing is typically quick and straightforward. Here’s what most clients experience:
Day 1: Mild redness and tightness; the skin feels warm.
Day 2 - 3: Redness fades, light flaking or dryness may occur.
Day 4 - 7: Skin begins to feel smoother and more refined; any dryness resolves.
Day 7 - 14: New collagen production begins - your skin looks radiant and refreshed.
You may notice slight peeling or dryness as old cells shed. This is normal and should never be forced with exfoliation.
Aftercare Tips:
Avoid makeup for 24 hours
Use gentle, hydrating skincare
Skip active ingredients for 4–5 days
Always wear SPF 30+
How Long Do Results Last and When Will You See Them?
You’ll notice visible improvements in 7–14 days, with collagen remodelling continuing for up to 12 weeks after each session. For optimal results, we recommend a series of 4–6 treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart.
Results are long-lasting - most clients maintain them with a few sessions per year as part of their Skin Ritual Treatment Plan.
Microneedling Before and After: Realistic Expectations
Because collagen production takes time, results are gradual and cumulative. Your therapist will guide you on a realistic timeline depending on your skin concern - acne scars, pigmentation, or fine lines may require different approaches.

Is Microneedling Right for You?
Microneedling is suitable for most skin types and tones, including darker complexions and sensitive skin. Because the treatment relies on the body’s own healing process (not heat or light), it’s safe for conditions like melasma or post-inflammatory pigmentation.
