What is the Aerolase treatment?
The Aerolase Neo Elite is a 1064nm Nd:YAG laser device with an ultra-fast 650-microsecond pulse duration. It is FDA-cleared for over 36 indications including rosacea, melasma, acne, acne scarring, pigmentation, spider veins, sun damage, and skin rejuvenation.
Its ultra-short pulse duration avoids the heat buildup that causes side effects in conventional laser systems - making it safe for all skin tones, including medium and deep skin tones where traditional lasers carry a risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation. The Aerolase Neo Elite requires no downtime and is well tolerated without numbing. It is available at Skin Ritual in Newmarket, Auckland - the only clinic in Auckland offering this device.

Consultation
Every Aerolase treatment at Skin Ritual begins with a consultation. Your therapist assesses your skin, discusses your concerns, and determines the appropriate treatment protocol - including the parameters, number of sessions, and any homecare required.

Laser delivery
The Aerolase Neo Elite hand-piece is passed over the treatment area, delivering 1064nm laser energy at a 650-microsecond pulse duration. The treatment is comfortable without numbing - most clients describe a mild warmth. Sessions typically take 45 minutes depending on the area and concern being treated.

Targeted tissue response
Depending on the concern being treated, the laser energy is absorbed by different targets in the skin - haemoglobin in blood vessels for vascular concerns, melanin for pigmentation, sebaceous glands for acne, and collagen-producing cells for rejuvenation. Each target responds to the same laser through a different biological mechanism.

Progressive results
Results develop progressively over the weeks following each session as the body processes treated tissue. A course of sessions is typically recommended - the number varies by concern and is discussed at your consultation.

Most Nd:YAG lasers operate at pulse durations of 10-100 milliseconds. Aerolase operates at 650 microseconds — roughly 15-150 times faster. This speed is the key to its safety and efficacy: the laser delivers energy precisely to the target tissue before heat can spread to surrounding skin, eliminating the thermal damage that causes side effects in conventional systems.
Safe for all skin tones
The 1064nm wavelength penetrates beyond the melanin-rich upper layers of the skin, targeting the dermis directly without disturbing surface pigment cells. Combined with the ultra-fast pulse duration, this makes Aerolase genuinely safe for medium and deep skin tones — where most other laser systems carry a meaningful risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Conventional laser treatments often require topical numbing and produce visible redness, swelling, or peeling that requires recovery time.
