Aerolase® for Melasma.

When we introduced Aerolase® to Skin Ritual earlier this year, we knew it was special - different than any other laser device on the market. One of these key differences is that Aerolase® can treat melasma safely.
If you're dealing with melasma, you'll know it's notoriously difficult to treat. It’s not just pigmentation - it’s a complex interaction between hormones, genetics, blood vessels, and melanocytes (pigment producing cells).
Melasma is also a highly reactive pigmentation - most energy-based treatments (like IPL, and BBL) can actually make melasma worse.
Let’s break it down:
🧠 IPL/BBL are intense pulsed light treatments (commonly referred to as laser) that use broad-spectrum wavelengths to target pigment. They’re effective for superficial sun damage - but not ideal for melasma, which is deeper, heat-sensitive, and prone to rebound.
These devices:
Generate more heat in the skin
Aren't selective enough for melasma’s unique pathways
Can stimulate more pigment
Aren't suitable for darker skin tones
In comparison, Aerolase® is a 1064nm Nd:YAG laser with a 650-microsecond pulse duration. Basically, it delivers energy in ultra-short bursts that:
Target the pigment and vascular components of melasma (including underlying redness)
Minimise heat buildup in the epidermis
Reduce inflammation and melanocyte stimulation
Are safe across all skin tones
What this means for your skin:
✅ No risk of rebound hyperpigmentation
✅ No downtime, no numbing, no surface trauma
✅ Can be used even on hormonally active, inflamed, or relapsing melasma
At Skin Ritual, we combine Aerolase® with melanin inhibitors, antioxidants, and strict photoprotection for a layered, long-term strategy that works.
If you've tried everything for your melasma, without success - this might be the solution you’ve been waiting for.
